build with us
At Artel31, we don’t just design homes. We build them too.
We’re a unique blend of architects, designers, craftspeople and makers that can take your project from nothing more than an aspiration to the finished building complete with bespoke landscaping, furniture and interior design including furniture.
Every project starts with us talking to you at length to understand how you want to live, work or play in the spaces. We design then to inspire you with how that might be different. From art studios to new builds, community builds to high-end restaurants. Once we’ve refined the design and gained the necessary consents, we can then offer to build it with our in-house team.
The highest levels of sustainability guide everything we do. We focus on creating homes and buildings that are not only energy-efficient, improve biodiversity, and comfortable to live in.

architect design and build
There are tens of thousands of builders who offer a design service, but this is often little more than them employing a draft person to design you one just like next door. There are many advantages of design and build but you only get some of them if you start from the construction and work backwards to a design.
Artel31 is fundamentally different, as architects that build; every decision we make, from materials to layout, comes from a balance of design and real-world building experience. This is what allows us to economically create buildings that not only look great but function beautifully and stand the test of time.
As we go through the project, we directly involve our construction team throughout the design process to ensure decisions are shared and projects are mutually owned rather than isolated phases. Likewise, once the project starts on site our architects remain heavily involved to explain the original design rationale and outcomes.
We find this approach allows for clarity and consistency while maintaining a higher degree of control on cost and buildability than a traditional isolated architect/builder relationship. Allowing us to minimise cost over runs and disruption or delay during the build.
investing in a home – investing in your future
A house build or purchase is likely to be the biggest expenditure of your life both in monetary value and in embodied carbon. This is your chance to have the biggest impact possible on the future of our planet.
Building a zero carbon home will save more carbon than you are likely to produce.

bespoke homes, built to last
We don’t do repetition. Although we learn from every project, they always remain unique – tailored to you and your site.
Because of our architects’ direct involvement throughout the build we can make sure we achieve the highest standards of design and build quality.

sustainable design and zero carbon homes
Building a zero carbon home will save more carbon than you are likely to produce in the rest of your life unless of course you then decide to do frequent long distance flights!
Sustainability isn’t just a trend. It’s a fundamental obligation for all of us. We consider energy use, materials, and long-term impact from the very start. Whether it’s choosing low-impact materials, incorporating energy-efficient systems, or creating outdoor spaces that support biodiversity, we will always target producing regenerative architecture that improves its location rather than just minimising harm.

Frequently Asked Questions
We design, plan, and build. From architectural design and planning to technical detailing and full construction, we manage every stage of your project.
We think about energy use, materials, and long-term impact from day one. The aim is to create spaces that are low-impact, comfortable, and built to last.
It means design and construction are managed together. The result is a building that looks and works exactly as envisioned, with no compromises between the design and the build.
We care about sustainability in every project. This means retaining existing fabric where possible, improving energy performance through careful design, and choosing materials and systems that are appropriate for the building’s character and long-term performance.
Artel31 are part of RIBA’s 2030 Climate Challenge, Architect’s Declare and The Green Register.
We are strong believers of use less don’t do less. We make every effort to re-use materials during the build process, whether it’s bi-product of another process, or an item that still has life left in it.
